Sophia knew it would happen eventually, it had happened to the other consulting detectives, so why would she be any different?

But she was determined to be different, because she would be the one that would tell John. Sherlock had told pretty much everyone important but John. And Eve, well, Eve didn't tell anyone when she faked her death.

"I know Mycroft, I know, if I want to make this plan work I need to vanish, but I have something to do before I become a ghost" she told the elder Holmes as they put the final plans in place.

"And what would that be?"

"There are two things actually. One: I want to go to the funeral, because that's a chance I'm not going to pass up. Two: I'm going to tell John" the look that crossed Mycroft's face was one of acute horror.

"He would be the one to give it away, it would all be for nothing!" Myrcoft pointed out.

"He wouldn't, because he would know that if he did reveal that I was alive, it could result in my actual death, which he wishes to avoid at any cost. Besides, I've proven over the past few years that I have a heart as well as a mind, and I don't want John spending the next several months tearing himself apart with the belief he could have done something, rather like he did with your brother" Sophia paused as Mycroft raised one eyebrow slightly, but then continued. "John saved me five years ago, the least I can do is tell him the truth, tell him that I'm not actually dead, he deserves that much"

Mycroft merely nodded and set the plan in place, adding the final touches to it and setting the times.

Needless to say, the plan went flawlessly. Sophia perished as the building was blown up around her, or so everyone was led to believe, which meant that a week later they were all standing in front of a gravestone. Even Lestrade was there, much to Sophia's surprise.

She watched from the nearby tree as everyone turned to leave the grave but John. Knowing this was the only chance she was going to get, Sophia made sure everyone else had left before lowering herself onto the branch below and launching the paper plane, quickly hiding amongst the autumn leaves again as it hit the back of John's head.

She watched his face crack into a smile as he read it before he shoved the plane/note in his pocket and returning his expression to it's previous state. Sophia waited until the graveyard was empty before she dropped out of the tree and into the black car waiting for her nearby.

Sherlock surprised everyone by trying to prove DNA wrong, attempting to prove that Sophia was alive and well. John encouraged the antics at first, as everyone had expected him to. Once that had failed, everyone turned back to the case.

It was a full three months before Sherlock found the true serial killer, but it hadn't been without help from Sophia, dropping hints around him for him to pick up. Once she saw it on the news, Sophia packed her things and headed for the black car that had pulled up outside.

John was the first one she pulled aside, getting Mycroft to pick him up and take him to the abandoned warehouse. Sherlock had followed, rather curious as to why his brother had only picked up John, and stood amongst the shadows to watch events unfold.

"Why am I here Mycroft?"

"You know why, John. The case is solved, she wants to come home"

Sophia stepped out of the shadows behind Mycroft with a smirk, not seeing Sherlock in the shadows as she walked calmly toward John.

"So you pulled me aside first, eh Soph, before you come home?" John asked the teen. Sophia's smirk became a wide grin as John wrapped her in a hug.

"I need to breathe John" Sophia managed to say, so John let her go.

"That's not possible" Sherlock muttered in the shadows. Sophia and John turned to the shadows in question as Sherlock emerged.

"Why am I not surprised you've followed?" John said sarcastically, but Sherlock wasn't listening, he was too focused on Sophia.

"It isn't physically possible. I calculated all of the options you would have had, nothing ended in your survival. I even factored in your knowledge of the inevitability of your death to prove them wrong, but even then the outcome was death" Sherlock lectured.

"You were like your brother then, you thought I was too humany and emotional to fake my death and hurt everyone around me, but it was a chance I had to take Sherlock. I knew the case couldn't be solved with me alive, but I didn't want it to end with me in the ground either, so I got you to bury an empty coffin. Oh, by the way, very touching comment you made at the funeral Sherlock, I will admit to almost crying" Sophia stopped at the sound of John's stifled chuckle.

"Only you would attend your own funeral" he answered to Sophia's questioningly raised eyebrow.

"You know me far too well. I do have to ask though"

"Nothing was moved, your room was sealed" Sherlock stated before Sophia had even finished. Sophia nodded and started walking toward the car that had pulled up outside, finding John and Sherlock close behind.

"I think Lestrade was just on his way over to Baker Street when we left, something about finally closing the case" John muttered absently. He began to worry when Sophia's grin became a maniacal one.

"This should be entertaining" she said to herself, just as the car burst into life and headed in the direction of Baker Street.

John and Sherlock couldn't quite conceal their grins as Sophia walked into 221B, watching everyone's different reactions.

"No way, there is no way you did that to us" Eve muttered. She glanced quickly at the tea in her hand and wondered if it had a hallucinogenic in it, courtesy of Sherlock, but Sophia was still there when she looked back up, proving she wasn't going mad.

"Oh you bloody well did, didn't you? You pulled a Sherlock on us!" Lestrade exclaimed. Sophia nodded, leaning casually against the wall as if this was expected, but technically it was.

"You. You-you-you were dead. Buried!" Eve shouted, getting out of Sherlock's chair.

"I know, I watched the funeral, you were very sweet by the way, I appreciate the sentiment you very rarely show" Sophia replied calmly, still leaning against the wall. Eve looked ready to grab the gun off the mantelpiece, but stopped and broke into a laugh.

"Seriously?! You went to your own funeral?!" Eve shouted when she stopped laughing.

"Why not? You only live once, right?" Sophia answered. Eve just continued to laugh.
As if you haven't guessed from the earlier stories, Sophia survives the Moriarty in the original story and ends up moving to London, becoming a Consulting Detective and taking Sherlock's place at Scotland Yard until he returns. now, this is 5 years after that story, in which it is Sophia's turn to fake her death to stay safe.

As for Eve's faking her death, I shall post it soon as my friend has warped her mind too much to write Sherlock (normal, with her OC form in) and is in the process of handing them all to me. I have it saved on my computer, it may be up tonight if my computer does not die first (and if I don't run out of time).
