You entered the house to find it in a state of chaos. Considering that your husband – Vladimir, personification of Romania – was with the rest of the Magic Trio when you left, the mess didn’t surprise you.

“Vlad! Arthur! Lukas!” you shouted, dropping your bag by the door. You kicked off your shoes and went to explore the house.

“In here” you heard Vlad shout from the conservatory. You were happy to see that the conservatory wasn’t in ruins, but you were surprised by the sight of Vlad holding two all too familiar looking children.

“What did you do this time?”

“We were trying to make a youth potion at Arthur’s request as revenge for the last world meeting, but it bubbled over while we were making it and Arthur and Lukas got caught by it” Vlad explained quickly, hearing your disapproving tone.

“And how do we change them back?” you questioned.

“We wait. According to the book they should change back of their own accord in three hours”

“Well then, that shouldn’t be too hard, should it?” you immediately regretted your words as Lukas sneezed. His sneeze was followed by a strong wind that whipped around the room, pulling picture frames off walls and pushing you over.

“Their magic is...misbehaving” Vladimir added, slightly sheepishly.

“No shit Sherlock” you grumbled, getting to your feet.

You set about picking up all of the picture frames and clearing up all the broken glass, the enchanted dustpans and brushes doing the latter job for you while you cleaned all the other breakable items from the room. Once it was clear of anything breakable, Vlad set the toddlers down on the floor and they ran off. The sound of glass breaking quickly followed.

“Maybe not” Vlad muttered. You looked at him to see he was wearing a smug grin, so you started to glare at him. Before you burned a hole through his skull with your glare (You had, when you were drunk, managed to set his hair on fire with a glare) he scampered off to rein in the toddlers.

Two hours later, the rest of the house was in the same sort of state as the conservatory, if not worse. All the fragile items had been placed in the bedroom you and Vlad shared, which you had then surrounded with a spell to protect it from any stray magic. Most of the furniture in the house was either tipped over or broken, with the exception of the coffee table in the lounge, which was stuck to the ceiling.

At the moment, you were more concerned about Arthur as he was being thrown up and down by the pixies. It was keeping him happy, so you weren’t too bothered about it, which meant you only had to keep Lukas entertained. That task was simple enough as he was currently captivated by the images of the fish you had created, watching the little brightly coloured fish swim around in mid-air. You looked away from the toddler just in time to see the pixies throw Arthur up in the air and run away.

You sprang forward to catch him before he hit the ground, you taking most of the force of the fall, but Arthur still felt enough of a bump to cause him to cry. You got to your feet with Arthur cradled in your arms, gently bouncing him up and down in an attempt to quell the tears starting to roll down the toddler’s cheeks.

“No, Arthur, please don-” you were cut off as a small cloud appeared above your head and started to pour rain on you.

“-t cry” you finished. You tried to ignore the raincloud and focused on getting Arthur to stop crying, but that was becoming increasingly difficult as the rain kept getting heavier the longer Arthur cried.

In the end, it took you twenty minutes to get Arthur to stop crying, by which point you were already drenched and absolutely freezing. You placed Arthur on a sofa cushion on the floor beside Lukas, where he became captivated by the fish illusion too, allowing you to go up to your bedroom and attempt to get dry. When you entered, you found Vlad sitting on the bed immersed in a spell book with a stack sitting next to him, obviously looking for a way to break the spell early or control the toddler’s magic. Upon hearing the door open, he looked up at you.

“What happened draga?” he questioned, seeing you standing in the doorway looking like a drowned rat.

“The pixies happened. They made Arthur cry and I got my own little raincloud. And before you ask, Arthur is completely dry” you snapped as an answer.

“Then again, it would be you getting soaked if you’d actually taken them off my hands half an hour ago like you said you would!” you continued, stomping over to where he was sat and pulling him to his feet. You then proceeded to push him out of the room, slamming the door behind him for good measure. He got the hint and his footsteps could be heard descending the stairs, so you turned your attention to finding and changing into some dry clothes.

By the time you were attempting to dry your hair you heard shouting from the conservatory, some rather muffled Romanian that you had a feeling you didn’t want to translate. The towel in your hand fell to the floor and you ran out of the room, heading towards the shout. In the conservatory, you found a shocked Vlad, Arthur and Lukas, the latter two now fully clothed adults. The fish mirage vanished and the former toddlers looked to you.

“What happened (y/n)?” Arthur asked.

“While working on a potion it splashed on you and Lukas, so you ended up spending the last two and a half hours as toddlers. As for the soaking hair, you started crying and gave me a personal raincloud.” You explained. Lukas tried to get to his feet, but just ended up falling back onto the cushion.

“Vlad, can you take those two to their homes while I get the house back to normal?” you asked your husband. Vlad was no longer shocked, in fact, he was helping Arthur stand. He nodded as he led Arthur towards the front door while you followed helping Lukas. You watched them drive off before turning to look back into the house.

The first order of business was the furniture, most of which you had to use magic to fix and put back in place. After much trial and error, you did manage to get the coffee table back on the ground, at which point you took the spell off of the bedroom. The fragile objects floated back into their rightful places around the house, leaving you to simply touch it up here and there.

The last thing that floated down the stairs was your bag. It didn’t contain something fragile; it was more valuable than anything in the house. It was sheet of paper you had received from the doctors today, a positive pregnancy test. You’d had several false positives before, so this time you’d gone to the doctors to double check the result.

Grinning as you wandered into the kitchen, the notepad and pen following, you set the precious piece of paper on the bench and grabbed the notepad out of the air. You grabbed the pen a moment later, once you managed to catch the mischievous object, and wrote a note.

Vlad

I’ll be asleep by the time you come back, but I can’t wait to give you this any longer. I got this test done while I was out earlier and I’d planned to tell you before, but taking care of the children became the priority.

(y/n)

You sat the note on top of the folded test results and headed back out of the kitchen, but you stopped in the doorway as you had another idea. Returning to where the notepad and pen were sat, you picked the latter up and started one more note.

P.S. Remember to thank Arthur and Lukas for the experience, but do tell them that we may need more practice with magical children before the baby arrives.

With a truly wicked grin, you set the new note underneath the results and headed out of the kitchen. This time you made it to your room and dropped onto the bed, pulling the covers over you and drifting into sleep.
ITS FINALLY TYPED UP!!!!

This is nothing like the draft that's written in my notebook, but never mind.

I own the plot and nothing else.
